"Pardon my French Photography was born out of my soft spot for all things French, my love for Photography and my need to be creative and surround myself with all things pretty." - Brigitte
Bonjour! For those who don't know me I am Brigitte... and put simply... I am the photographer. If my husband were to be writing this he would tell you I am the creative director of Pardon my French Photography and a national award winning photographer... that my natural flair for creativity has since seen Pardon my French blossom into one of Adelaide's most successful photography studios offering shoots in studio and on location.... and blah blah blah...
BUT what do I want you to know?
- I am also a wife, a mother (to 2 dogs and 2 chickens) and I also work as a midwife.
- I am lucky enough that I get to work with my sister Kate (she is my assistant in pretty much everything photography related)... her role also includes being the recipient of random messages at 1am with my wonderful creative ideas. It is not uncommon for her to wake up to 10 video messages from me!
Our Goal? To get you feeling as comfortable as possible in front of the camera... for you to have fun and to let us take care of the rest!
Stick around a little while and get to know the story behind Pardon my French Photography.
I LOVE MEETING NEW PEOPLE! I get genuinely excited creating memories for my clients. I give 110% at EVERY. SINGLE. SESSION. I LOVE TO SAY LOVE! I love being creative... I love evoking emotion through my images... I love coffee... I love seeing your images in print... I LOVE WHEN CLIENTS feel like a best friend by the end of their session.
It all started when…
In school I was always drawn to subjects such as Art and Photography but never imagined I would pursue a career as a Photographer. At 17 years old I lived in France for one year as part of a student exchange and needless to say I fell in love. My stay in France gave me some amazing experiences; from learning French and being immersed in the French culture to travelling Europe and learning to take the perfect selfie (before the term selfie and before there were even cameras on mobile phones). **My left side is my good side for those who were wondering!** When I came back to Australia I finished a University degree in Midwifery and I am currently working part-time at a local hospital on the postnatal ward helping mummas and their families transition into life with their precious newborns.
I met my husband Luke when I was 18 at the local bar we both worked at. After a year we started dating and years later on Valentine’s Day 2013 ...
he proposed to me while on holiday in Paris in front of the Eiffel Tower!
We are now happily married and have since added two fur babies to our family, Dixie and Cosmo, who have completely transformed me into a dog lover. They are both Bull Terriers and at the beginning of my photography journey I would practice taking photos on these two cuties day in and day out... and I will probably never stop taking pictures of them... they're so CUTE!
Pardon my French Photography... Why?
The name came to me so easy! I learnt to speak French while I lived in France... and while I can hold a conversation... I'm not perfect and I would find myself pardoning my French all the time!!! ... and YES I may also use a naughty word on occasion ... but who doesn't?? hehe **insert sheepish giggle here**
Do you have a Studio?
Absolutely! Newborn + Sitter sessions take place in my home studio based in Highbury, South Australia. My home studio is made up of 2 rooms AND a sitting room which is a dedicated kid friendly zone filled with toys to entertain them for hours. Usually siblings don't want to leave at the end of a newborn session becasue they are having so much fun!
What gear do I use?
I have (2) Canon miii bodies + 35mm prime lens, 100mm macro lens, 24-70 zoom lens, and a fish eye! Lighting I use (2) Canon Speelite 600ex-rt + and for the studio a combination of natural and elinchrom RX1.
What I love to Photograph the most?
Newborns or my Nan!
Pizza or Pasta?
Is Pasta on top of Pizza an option? Cause let's face it ... CARBS ARE LIFE!
What is on your DREAM LIST? Hold on to your seats people... THIS IS NOT A DRILL! (these items are actually on my current "Dream List")
- Chop down an ugly tree in my front yard (my husband INSISTS that it's too dangerous for me to use power tools)
- New Quilt Cover
- Renovate the bathroom + laundry
- Matching mixing bowls and matching washing baskets
